Our Mission
The Foundation for Youth and Economic Development (FYED) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization established to advance the mission of the Miami-Dade Economic Advocacy Trust (MDEAT).
FYED is committed to empowering at-risk youth through MDEAT’s Youth Services Pillar, specifically its Teen Court Division.
In addition, FYED supports community development through MDEAT’s Housing Development Division—providing funding for first-time homebuyers—and through the Economic Development Division by offering grants to local business owners.
Our Goals
FYED and MDEAT will continue their impactful work through the department's three foundational pillars
Youth Services Division:
This division includes the highly effective diversionary program, Teen Court, which proudly maintains a recidivism rate of just 4%. A key component of this program is career pathway development, ensuring that participating teens are equipped to become successful, productive citizens.
Housing Division:
MDEAT is actively contributing to the development of strong, vibrant neighborhoods by providing funding for both homeownership and home restoration initiatives. The division also collaborates with housing developers to support the construction of multi-unit housing projects.
Economic Development Division:
Through this division, MDEAT has awarded grants to over 100 local entrepreneurs. These investments foster job creation within the community and play a critical role in strengthening the economic fabric of Miami-Dade County.
